Female Great Blue Heron In Mating Plumage Original Oil

Barbara Fallenbaum

Painting of a majestic Great Blue Heron.  Great Blue Herons are the largest heron in North America.  Often seen standing silently along inland rivers, lakeshores, and coastal waters.  Spotted this one across the cove standing on a neighbor’s tree that over hangs the water.    It looked like a young one coming into its first mating season.  I had not seen her on my cove before.  We have a beautiful male that inhabits our cove and he usually chases other Great Blue Herons off.  But he did not chase this one off.

  • The painting measures 16" x 40", with frame 24.5" x 49" x 2.5" deep.  The frame is solid pine finished with a cream color over a crackle metallic glaze. Each frame is custom made no two are alike.
  • The frame is solid wood and custom for this painting.  We finish each one with an undercoated metallic glaze and a nice cream crackle top coat, giving an elegant coastal feel.  Each frame is a unique piece of art by itself!
